You therefore have to understand how well the manufacturers have modified well to perform once subjected to water. During their manufacturing the watches are subjected to ideal conditions to measure their competence. The consumer can then buy what fits well into their intended use. Here are some of the common water proof categories as set by the manufacturer as charted below:
- Water resistant watches as up to thirty meters under water. These are the most common types of the water resistant watches available in the market. You can still have them on in rain or when washing hands but not while swimming or even diving,

- May be worn for up to a hundred meters in below the water. This makes them usable for swimming, snorkeling or even by the skin divers
- The watch under this category is fit enough for simple scuba diving and deep waters swimming for up 200 hundred meters or more.
- For the real scuba divers who are always in the waters they can go for the best of all the other watches. The watches in this category offer the best or our water resistance.
How to maintain a water resistant watch
There are a few technicalities that should always be observed when it comes to waterproof watches; these tips are meant to help you ensure that it remains waterproof:
- When changing the battery get it back to the manufacturer or even a relevant expert. This is meant to ensure that the water resistant watch does no lose this ability,
- Always ensure all its screws are tight.
- Salty and chlorine water accelerate the aging process of your water resist ant watch. You should therefore take it back to the manufacturer after every two to three years so as to ensure the seals are in good shape.
- Finally don’t use it in a hot shower, bath tub or even sauna. Most water resistant watches cannot withstand this heat.
